February 2009 Mission Trip to Ghana, Africa

Exact dates to be advised

Introduction

Lois Soncrant, Executive Director, is the Trip Coordinator for this trip. I am pleased to be given the opportunity to share this beautiful country with others and look forward to meeting each of you!

Purpose

The purpose of mission trips are to help those in need and this is accomplished in a variety of ways. Construction of structures, from houses to a simple stool to sit on; painting, to add beauty to a bare room full of beds, or to brighten an eating area; deliver clothes and much needed medical supplies; or it could be as simple as playing with the children and giving them one on one attention. Everyone’s help is always needed.

This Trip

The main purpose of this trip is to continue construction on a much needed sick bay at our orphanage in Koforidua, Ghana, where there are 130 children, ages 4 years old and up. This sick bay is badly needed as at least 5 children a day are sick with no place to be cared for. We started the construction during our December 2007 Mission trip and hope to complete it during this trip.

What We Need

• Funds for both materials and wages for local workers.
• Supplies for the sick bay. Please contact Lois for a detailed list.
• Healthy, strong volunteers to help with manual labor.
• Volunteers to teach and spend time with the children. Examples would be: teaching a song, or a story; something specific that can be done in a few days. A big hit every time is bringing supplies for a craft project.

What to Expect

To meet some of the most incredible children you have ever met! There is always time spent with the children in the orphanage. After all, this is about them!
