Adoption Programs - Nepal

- Nepal is open and taking applications! -

Age Requirements

• Married couples have no age limit but must be at least 30 years older than child being adopted

• Single females must be 35 - 55 years old

• Couples must be married at least 4 years

Health Issue Requirements

• Must be free of AIDS, Syphilis and TB

• At least one parent has to to be infertile for married couples. Not required for single women.

Available Orphans

• Healthy children from 3 months to 16 years old. Both girls and boys are available.

• Can only adopt a child who is the opposite gender of children already in the home. Families with a girl and a boy already in home cannot adopt from Nepal.

• Child being adopted must be younger than children already in the home.

Paperwork Requirements

• USCIS
• Homestudy
• Dossier
• Dossier must be notarized, certified and authenticated
• Follow-up reports every six months until child is 16

Process

• File is review by the Investigation Recommendation & Monitoring committee (IRM)

• File is then forwarded to the Family matching Committee for a referral (FMC)

• File is sent back to IRM and Agency Representative is notified of match

• IRM recommends final approval to the Nepal Government

• Family travels to obtain child's adoption decree, travel document and U.S. visa

Travel Requirements

• At least one parent must travel to Nepal

• In country stay is 15 - 18 days
